Why the Global Institute exists
Qualifications and skills can show what a person knows and what they can do. Calibre addresses the additional evidence question: how that knowledge and skill are exercised when judgement, responsibility, pressure, influence and consequences are involved.
The Global Institute exists to address that third dimension: Calibre. It complements universities, professional bodies and skills providers by providing a specialist, credible and consistent way to recognise the human qualities that shape the responsible application of Capability and Competency.
Within IOWL, the Institute is the specialist awarding authority for Calibre Credits™. It protects the distinction between introductory awareness, declared development intent and stronger assessed evidence of Calibre.

What Calibre Credits™ are
Calibre Credits are IOWL's formal recognition currency for assessed Calibre on eligible professional pathways. They provide evidence that a learner has met defined learning and assessment requirements concerned with both understanding and reflective application.
Calibre Credits are evidence, not attendance points
They are not academic credit, CPD hours, a personality score or a declaration that someone is morally perfect. They are awarded where a learner passes the required IOWL assessment model on an eligible professional pathway.
Successful candidates may receive between 31 and 50 Calibre Credits™, together with the connected professional standing and recognition records for that pathway.

Structured engagement
The learner completes the required Positive Value Leadership learning journey and the engagement requirements needed to become eligible for assessment.

Knowledge assessment
A knowledge component confirms understanding of the principles, exemplars and frameworks that underpin Positive Value Leadership.

Reflective assessment
A structured reflective component examines the authenticity, depth and quality of reasoning, personal insight and application. It is not a personality test.

Calibre outcome
Where the required components are passed, the Global Institute awards the applicable Calibre Credits and the connected professional recognition records.
Both assessed components must be passed. Calibre Credits are not awarded where the required knowledge or reflective assessment standard is not met. Detailed eligibility and assessment requirements are governed by the applicable IOWL policies and candidate guidance.

The distinction matters. Early pathways establish access, awareness, aspiration and intent. Calibre Credits are reserved for the stronger assessed professional recognition pathways.

The knowledge examination establishes understanding of the relevant PVL concepts and Positive Values; the reflective question examines interpretation, judgement, consequence-awareness and application. Together they provide the defined evidence used to determine demonstrated Calibre at the applicable stage of recognition, with PCD extending the evidence over time.
