Custom House, Belfast
A historic setting for public voice, oversight and accountability.
IOWL maintains a flexible presence at Custom House in Belfast, using its historic setting and neighbouring facilities for appropriate in-person activity.
Built in 1857, Custom House originally housed officials responsible for regulating goods entering and leaving the Port of Belfast. Its history is connected to standards, flow, oversight and accountability.
The building's steps were once known as Speaker's Corner, a place associated with public oratory, civic conversation and debate. That legacy sits naturally alongside IOWL's work in judgement, responsibility, integrity and values-led influence.
IOWL's purpose is not to maintain a monument. It is to develop, evidence and sustain human calibre and integrity through Positive Value Leadership™, Calibre Credits™ and Perpetual Calibre Development™.

Learning
Online learning remains the primary route, supported by tutorials, learning records and assessment windows in My World.
Dialogue
Physical spaces are used where direct conversation, institutional engagement or strategic dialogue adds depth.
Recognition
In-person activity may support celebration, professional standing, partner meetings and public-facing institutional events.
When presence matters
IOWL uses physical spaces selectively: for public-facing dialogue, strategic conversations, recordings, institutional meetings, celebration and recognition moments. The learning journey itself remains centred in My World.
Strategic conversations
Terrace and informal spaces support partner discussions, institutional conversations and fellowship when face-to-face contact adds value.
Reflective discussion
Smaller spaces can support facilitated dialogue, breakout activity and reflective professional conversation.
Lectures and recognition events
Larger venues may support public briefings, recordings, institutional events and recognition activity.
Arrival and hospitality
Reception and hospitality spaces provide an appropriate setting for visitors, partners and selected institutional meetings.
