The Institute of One World Leadership is the World's only professional membership organisation for today's and tomorrow's leaders, in business, public service, and social spheres.

The Institute is committed to expanding the adoption of Positive Value Leadership™ ; to develop Leaders who are an exemplar to society and a catalyst for the adoption of social change for the benefit of all humanity.

We develop and support internationally minded Leaders who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world through strong, positive Leadership.

Leaders have the potential to change the world from humble beginnings, whether in a work environment, private or public sector; in social, voluntary or community circles; political or governmental spheres.

Established as a not-for-profit community interest company, the Institute is headquartered in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is independent, impartial and not tied to any special interests.

Our Rationale

As a consequence of personal experience in war zones, civil wars, and humanitarian disasters; political exchanges and industrial contexts, we have amassed evidence that Leadership is in Crisis across the world. We therefore founded The Institute of One World Leadership® www.owls.global in Belfast in 2016 as a not-for-profit, and in 2020 we attained registered status as ‘The World’s Leadership Institute®’

Our membership footprint stretches across 182 countries - our 2050 Strategic Vision outlines our engagement with international governments; primary, middle, senior schools, and tertiary educational institutions, and other stakeholders.

Within the Institute we created The Centre for Positive Value Leadership, our research identifying that the absence of focus on a person’s ‘Values’, and the subsequent manifestation into behaviours and habits, is creating leaders who are willing to circumvent governance; evidenced by the manipulation of balance sheets in corporate contexts, government corruption, and societal complacency, creating not just a ‘Leadership Deficit’, but a ‘Leadership Depression’.

We determined that individuals need to develop ‘Positive Leadership Values’ prior to appointment to a position of power or authority, and prior to development of Leadership ‘competencies’. We created the approach of Positive Value Leadership™ as a consequence, identifying a normative set of positive values we resolved that all Leaders, aspiring leaders, or individuals in a position of power or responsibility, should have. Professor Michèle Russell (EdD, MSc, NTF, PFHEA) Chairs our Centre for Positive Value Leadership.

To encourage individuals to adopt Positive Value Leadership, we have made available a curriculum which integrates with every level of tertiary education, and provides students with a recognised certification and accreditation, to demonstrate to employers, they are a person of integrity. The curriculum and certification is also available to Alumni to enrich their existing qualifications. This is overseen by Dr Robert Harrison, our Director of Academic and Curriculum.
